It is possible to perform Plastic Surgery Techniques in cases of enlarged lobes of your ears, after months or years of having used molds that enlarge them.
We call these deformities Maasai type, for the habit of beauty and uniqueness that in the Maasai Tribe of Kenya and Tanzania, in Africa, to stretch these parts of his ears to be attractive and unique among them.
These are some examples of these African people It is very convenient to read and re-read these instructions, and to find answers too many of the doubts and questions that are often made about plastic surgery for Maasai type Plastic Esthetic Surgical Correction.
Surgery for Maasai type Plastic Esthetic surgical correction, is one of the cosmetic surgeries that can raise self-esteem and is quick and common procedure. Usually it takes 30 minutes on each side. It is almost done in both sides, usually.

This earlobe deformity does not mean they are necessarily large ears. What happens is that they are tremendously enlarde by the use of different objects, in order to increase the size of the earlobe and present the holder as a singular person.

To correct this deformity, we remove the extra tissue that has been subject to elongation for many months, accoding to a special parkings technique developed by Dr Jose L. Valero. We leave a dressing or swab with mineral oil and remains so for about 6 days.

This operation is extremely simple, and is sought both from adults and teenagers.

It is my experience that teenager patients, do well in a clinic or a short stay facility of a hospital, asking the anesthesiologist to give IV sedation or general anesthesia. If you are an adult, I will do with local anesthesia in the office.

In the case of teenagers  I usually am carefully assessing the patient´s attitude to the need for surgery, and the fear they could have about the operation itself. Usually the two issues they mostly fear are: being alone in their operation and the pain of the pinpricks. There are teenagers who are very open and tolerant, so we can work well with local anesthesia, talking to them and their parents.

Regarding indication, I don’t like to operate teenagers by force, when the desire to correct their ears come only from their parents. It is necessary for me to operate that I remain convinced that it is the child who wants the operation in the first place. (Click Emotions and Plastic Surgeryto learn more about the emotional issue). Operating a teenager under pressure could be cause of emotional abuse and trauma.

Next, I present recommendations for before and after this operation.

Do not take aspirin, or derivatives of aspirin 2 to 3 weeks before. Click Non-Recommended Medicines for more information. You will leave with a bandage around your head, covering your ears, same to be replaced after 6 days by a ballerina, or tennis band and should be used for another 7 days to protect the ear and maintain ears in place.

Avoid the sun, hot meals, hot baths and hot environment for a week. You will need only rest and sleep on your back, and never sideways. Do not touch or discover the ears until told to do so, do not expose to bumps, even minor.

Take your medicine as directed to leave the Hospital. You cannot drink alcohol during your convalescence.
